TELEVISION/MOVIES
_Soaps get a bad rap for how they bend reality and its actors are often deemed talentless, but the truth is that we indulge in media to escape from reality anyway and soap stars should be applauded for the number of hours they work (they're on five days a week all year) and the type of scenes they have to deliver (it's hard playing convincing multiple personalities). My personal favorite is the 51-year-old General Hospital. Some soaps have been cancelled, but there's still many who much rather see faux drama than actual drama that exploits real people on reality shows. Long live the soap. If GH is ever slow at the second, it's going to pick up in the next. Full episodes here. Further thoughts here. Check out this Katie Couric 20/20 special on the series that's inspired pop songs & rock stars over there.

About the behind-the-curtain lives of two country stars- a rookie and a legend-this show has politics, sex, high drama and great original music sung by its talented cast. And who doesn't love Hayden Panettiere? Vanilla Latte still has skills (shout out to my "Bring It On" franchise fans). Catch up on full episodes here.

Music videos I'm loving right now; be them fan-made or not :)
My favorite cut from JT's 20/20 Experience. This fan-made video is AWESOME. Love the concept & the genre/era diversity in the divas they chose.

#NowPlaying
A mixture of what I'm jamming to currently, think you should hear & stuff I just plain love.
Amy Winehouse-Fool's Gold
Barbara Streisand-What Are You Doing with the Rest of Your Life?. This just takes me to another place. Babs' voice is other worldly.
Blue October-Hate Me
Caroline Lavelle-Farther from the Sun
Morning Dessert Interlude + Sex for Breakfast.
Christina Aguilera put her foot in this baby maker. Christina Aguilera-You Lost Me. I have NO IDEA why this song didn't perform better; it's so beautifully written and sung.
Counting Crows-Colorblind
Danity Kane-Lights Out. I love the whole "Welcome to the Dollhouse" album. I bump it like it came out yesterday. I live the most for "Bad Girl," "Damaged," "Lights Out" & "Poetry."
Destiny's Child-Dot. Little known Destiny's Child song. Queen Bey vents about the scrutiny she faced after 2 original members left: "If something's wrong blame it on me, B-E-Y-O-N-C-E."
Destiny's Child-So Good (Maurice Joshua Soul Remix)
Fiona Apple-Never Is a Promise

Fiona Apple-Oh Well. When love has changed you for the worse & you feel you've ruined your own soul.
India.Arie-Just Do You
Joe Jonas-Fast-life. This album went under the radar and it's bumpin'! :)
Joss Stone-Bruised, But Not Broken
The entire "Introducing Joss Stone" album is great; 'HeadTurner' just one of my faves.
Haley Reinhart-Undone
The Hush Sound-That's Okay
Janet Jackson-Come On Get Up. Not a morning person? This will get you going.
Jessica Simpson-I Don't Want to Care
Jessie J-Casualty of Love
Jewel-Foolish Games
Kelly Rowland-Feelin' Me Right Now
Kelly Rowland-Love. Kissing off the ex to this one. Awesome lyrics co-penned by Beyonce's sister, Solange.
Kelly Rowland-Turn it Up. Surprisingly gritty & little dark for Kelly Rowland lyrically.
I love it. Lisa Loeb-Stay (I Missed You). 90's classic.

Lucy Pearl-Dance Tonight. This song has such an ambiance. I automatically think of a cool summer night & a good time with friends.
Maroon 5-Better That We Break
Mutya Buena-Real Girl
Natasha Bedingfield-Happy. This song helps me keep everything in perspective when things suck.
Nikki & Rich-I Made it Easy
Oukast ft. Norah Jones-Take Off Your Cool. This should have been a full length song.
Pink ft. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith-Misery. A perfect example of why soul and rock needs to be married and why Pink needs to do another R&B record.
The Pussycat Dolls-I'm Done
Ray LaMontagne-Trouble
Sam Sparro-Happiness
The Script-Break Even. Hearts really don't break even, dang it. This was my life.
Shakira ft. Carlos Santana-Illegal. This song is so underrated. Everything about it, from lyrics to music, is perfect.
Tweet-Smoking Cigarettes. I've been here before.
Toni Braxton-I Heart You. I generally don't care for EDM, but this just hits a spot.
