I named the following playlist "Underrated & Unorthodox" to one, obviously highlight tracks I deem to be underrated, and two, because as with Whitney Houston, I love all the classic songs and huge hits (ex. "Hero," "Fantasy"), but some of my ultimate favorites are rather unorthodox choices. Enjoy. BabyDoll-This song has everything. I love how it burns with both lust AND loneliness; the torture of unrequited love. The play between innocence (i.e. babydoll) and sensuality is tasty too. |
Bliss-*Whispers* Mariah Carey has baby makers in her discography. Don't believe she can pull it off? Take a listen. MC kills softly with this one. Prepare be to tantalized and a few other things lol.... | Heartbreaker Rx ft. Missy Elliott & DaBrat- Guess who's back in the mutha f'n house! Just play the record, Clue. This is my ish!!! I live for the rap verses. |
Lovin' You Long Time-The track>>>>>>>. Such a feel good song. Up Out My Face ft. Nicki Minaj-I could make a top 10 list of reasons why I LOVE this song, but here's 3: the track is fire (the piano is everything), Nicki's verse is fab and Mimi's clever and speeding verses are entertaining. Breakdown ft. Bone Thugs N Harmony-so this one is literally an urban legend. I always thought this song was huge, but it didn't perform well on the Hot 100 & received no certifications. APPALLING! They slept on this one. I love the concept, not many female singers have songs admitting they're pretending to be gangsta', they usually just get right to the tears. Not to mention the video for this was epic. | Can't Let Go (MTV Unplugged)-This song is soooooo underrated. I get immersed in it every time I hear it. Crybaby ft. Snoop Dogg-Ever "moved on" before you were ready to move on? Mmm-hmm. I live for the end.. "I can't get no sleep, I'm up all week...I CRY! I CRY! I CRYYYYYY, Oh, I gotta get me some sleeeeep!" Sang 'Riah! Reflections-Mariah is such a fabulous songwriter. The emotion in this song is so genuinely conveyed, you'd think she was indeed singing about her real-life mother. "Glitter" got such a bad rap that many missed one of MC's best songs. |
