Hard-THIS. IS. MY ISH. I'm addicted to the aggression in it. However, I think some of the lyrics are better suited for my queen diva, Beyonce`, no shade. Rehab | A Rihanna playlist has been much requested and those who closely follow my blog may be surprised I can even muster one up (my musical opinion of her isn't very high), but believe it or not, there's a couple of songs from the Barbadian beauty I really enjoy. Rihanna's talent level may be debatable, but I think most can agree that her record label makes sure she gets tracks that are infectious and, sometimes, very well written, like "Russian Roulette" & "Stay." I'm so taken with "Unfaithful," I wish another singer would've gotten it till this day. Can you imagine someone with pipes singing it? Epic. Anyhow, here's my list :) Disturbia- My favorite Rihanna song, period the end, hands down. I love psychotic and frenetic with a touch seduction lol. (Piano Version) Love the Way You Lie- Most adore the original Eminem edition with Rihanna as a featured artist, but I would take Rihanna solo on this halting, heart-rending version any day. Bravo to writers for creating possibly one the most emotionally-provoking and painful lyrics penned in this decade. |
Breakin' Dishes- Who knew madness could be so fun? Cold Case Love- Using the metaphor of a murder case to describe failed love was brilliant to me, and it wasn't applied in a cliche` fashion. I especially love the guitar and drum dramatics towards the end. Plus, this is a cool fan-made video. Take a Bow- It's kind of pitiful how predictable this song is conceptually, especially when there's a better take on it (i.e. Madonna's "Take a Bow"), but somehow, it still manages to be a favorite. Raining Men ft. Nicki Minaj-I saved the ratchery for last lol. What keeps this song from being an utter fool is the great tell-off 1st verse and the funny Onika lines. | Fire Bomb California King Bed- Sorry to pick so many singles, but I couldn't resist. Who isn't a sucker for a well-written, tender heart-break ballad? Cheers (Drink to That)-Perfect college anthem. This song puts me in more of a good mood than I want it to lol. It brings up happy memories with pals. Nobody's Business ft. Chris Brown-My feelings about Chris Brown and Rihanna sharing oxygen aside, I love the Michael Jackson and 90's R&B realness heard on this track. |
