Beyonce: 1+1 Song Review & American Idol Performance

5/26/2011

“1+1”, the 2nd single from Beyonce’s forthcoming album, “4”, is a definite rebound from the hard-to-sing-along with“Run the World” (review link below). Less is more with the single as it has simple, yet metaphoric lyrics and basic, but beautiful piano/string orchestration. “1+1” is so smooth and romantic; you might end up with your clothes off if you’re near
the right person. Beyonce` debuted the song live on American Idol’s finale last
night after the finalists performed a medley of her songs. You can watch both performances below. ("Run the World" review: http://jsays.weebly.com/2/post/2011/04/beyonce-run-the-world-girls.html).

The Oprah Winfrey Show's final week on air has begun and Beyonce` was there to
help kick it off! The show's producers planned a surprise farewell event for O
at the United Center in Chicago featuring O's fans and celebrity friends like Madonna, Tom Cruise and Queen Latifah. Musical performers included Josh Groban,
Jackie Evancho, Patti Labelle and our Queen Bee! Actress Dakota Fanning
introduced a segment about Oprah's philanthropic efforts with young women and ended it with "Girls, we run the world," in which Beyonce's performance of her new single, "Run the World (Girls)" began. It was AWESOME! Check out the video below.

Billboard got Bee crazy!!! Beyonce` received the 1st ever (the 1st to my knowledge) Millennium Award and was honored in tribute by several industry greats including U2's Bono, Lady Gaga, Barbara Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Babyface and get this-1st Lady Michelle Obama!!! Following her tribute, Beyonce` performed "Run the World (Girls)" and the award was presented to her by her mother, Tina. In her acceptance speech, Beyonce` personally thanked members of Destiny's Child, both past and present. Former member Letoya Luckett soon after tweeted "No, thank you...Love You...happy tears." Jay-z, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were there in attendance. Check out the full tribute below. Praise Beysus! Hail the Queen Bee! :)

Beyonce`: Run The World (Girls) Video Review

Like some other Beyonce fans, I didn’t care for “Run The World (Girls)” when I heard it (see song review link below), so I was hoping that the video would be more functional, stunning and entertaining. Initially, it seemed that the video was going to be lots of random shots in which Beyonce` just looks cute and poses, but eventually the video appeased me; it related to song’s concept, the aesthetics were vivid, the fashion was fierce and the choreography was great (Beyonce` shied away from her usual “light and prissy” and went for more active and aggressive, which made the “Single Ladies” choreo delightful). Good go, B. Check out the vid below. (song review link: http://jsays.weebly.com/2/post/2011/04/beyonce-run-the-world-girls.html)

Happy 10th Birthday, Survivor!!!

If you were a teenager when the “Survivor” album was released 10 years ago, it was the soundtrack to your life. The ultimate self-esteem booster, “Survivor” made you feel like even though you had pimples all over your face, had gained weight,  your crush didn’t like you back and that heifer at school wouldn’t leave you alone, everything was going to be okay because you were and an “independent, bootylicious, survivor” and you were going to put on a “happy face.” Promoting friendship, self-sufficiency and inner beauty, the album was everything a teenage girl needed to hear. The inspiration and motivation I gained from that record I cherish and still keep with me. Thanks for the memories, “Survivor.” What were your memories of the album? Below are some of MY favorite songs from the album.

    Seriously Beyonce`, WTH?!?

Most people figure out pretty quickly that I LOVE Beyonce`. She is my queen diva of choice. But every now and then, she does something that irritates or perplexes me. Here, I tell what's been buggin me about the Bee lately (with reviews and love for the Queen Bee in between).
