Commenting as I watch the video. :)

The original video is White Privilege in full force. The "don't take this offensively, but" trope is annoying. It means the person understands what they say is offensive, but they're trying to dictate how others react to their statements.

"I'm sorry... that you were offended", "I'm sorry... I got in trouble", "I'm sorry... I'm getting hate mail", "I'm sorry... you think I'm racist." This isn't an apology. Also, major white privilege and white guilt issue of "people thinking I'm racist is worse than actually acknowledging being racist." The idea that it doesn't matter if someone is or isn't racist, it's only important if others perceive them as racist that matters. Then again, these are the same people who say things like, "I'm not racist, but..." yeah, sorry, you are.

There's this idea with some hipsters that it's acceptable to be hateful/racist/bigoted/sexist because it's "ironic" for them to do so. I don't think they understand what ironic actually means, because this isn't it.

"Hordes they let in" and "American manners" are just more white privilege. White people need to learn and accept that America isn't white + others. Then again, with constant scare stories about "by the year 20XX, the US will be 51% minority!" and talking about "illegal people" and "urban people" and other such bullshit isn't going to change it anytime soon.

Then again, "American Manners" seem to be pretty rude in general, if you ask those outside the US what "Americans" are like. Also, USAmerican focus, since Canada, Mexico, all of Central and South America are also, by definition, American. ;)

But but but "America is a melting pot" so "you" should all assimilate to "me!" I don't know why the metaphor of melting pot includes one group that doesn't have to melt with the others...

"In America, we don't talk on our cell phones in the library" no, we talk on them while driving, while walking, while shopping, in line at the post office and wal-mart, while also using the drive-thru, while talking to other people, and in movie theatres, get it right. Dang.

I've seen dozens of signs now saying, "please don't use your cell phone while here" (post office, even McDonald's drive-thru).

"I feel bad about the tsunami, but I'm trying to library here!" "I know this sounds bad, but..." I think white America's favorite phrase is "I'm not ____, but...".

"America" is a racist country. It's a racist system. Ignoring that and not talking about it won't make it go away and won't make it change. But it takes knowledge to even recognize this, sadly. People are far too superficial about issues. The "easy" answer isn't always the right one. Then again, there's a war on intelligence coming from the right wing, so keeping people stupid and ignorant is par for the course. But that's another rant.

I love how she's talking about American manners and has her boobs hanging out all over the place. She's just a "nice, polite American girl..." XD. I think I know why she wasn't reaching an "epiphany" when she was in the library. She doesn't seem too very bright. She makes me want to generalize about blondes and hicks. But no, that would be sinking to her level. Can someone say "heartless"?
